In September WLC celebrated 30 years in Optics, signifying three decades of providing an unrivalled service in stock lenses and more. Opening in 1991 as a start-up with just 3 members of staff, we are immensely proud to be celebrating 30 years in the industry.
Now home to a team of 46, WLC is a leading lens distribution business to serve independent opticians across the UK and Ireland. In the early 90s, this was a revolutionary idea, and our team have been committed since day one when it comes to fulfilling orders and providing a great service. What’s more, many of our staff have now been with us for over 10 years!
Earlier in 2021 we launched our new trade website, making it even easier to order stock with our online ordering platform. Delivering thousands of stock lenses every day, we celebrated 30 years in the business with cake and a team dinner to show our appreciation for our dedicated team and to say thanks for all of their hard work.
A personal service continues to be at the heart of what we do at WLC, allowing us to form great relationships with our customers over the years. Our 30th anniversary is an exciting milestone, and gives us a chance to look back on what we have achieved so far.
The range of stock lenses available at WLC goes further than traditional single vision and varifocals, including added value lenses for specific visual needs. We can provide the likes of Transitions lenses and tinted lenses, as well as other high quality lens types to protect from exposure to UV light.
Our portfolio also includes an anti-fog coated lens available as a stock item, and we now offer the blue-cut Blumax lenses which offer optimal protection from UV and blue-violet light, both indoors and outside.
In 1991 we opened with a mission to supply both independent opticians and labs with a range of quality stock lenses. We began offering CR39 and mineral finished stock lenses, which allowed us to grow into the largest supplier of stock lenses in the UK.
By 2005, we began offering Rx lenses and became able to fulfil any requirement that came our way with a range of varifocals, bifocal and single vision lenses across a wide range of indexes and materials. Today, we have over 250 surfaced products to choose from.
